Day #9

We are officially in Sydney Mates!

So we left our sketchy hostel at around 4:30 am so that we could be at the airport at 5 am.

I had so many complains about this particular hotel.

1) One of the beds had rat poo. Not cool not cool at all.

2) the Wifi was down

3) The electricity went out during the night

And last but not least

4) There was NO hot water the next day. So we had to go smelling like the mattresses from that place and honestly the smell was not good AT ALL!!!

Probably worst experience ever. No bueno!

Any who enough with the complains let's move on to the better part of the day.

So either the system to fly internationally is easy or I'm becoming a pro. Cause I just flew through everything like nothing. Actually I'm quite impressed with myself. I knew that traveling internationally did not have to be a headache and a half ;)

So at the airport I met the coolest girl. She is a Dr in Fine Arts and specializes in the Maori culture. She had so many interesting stories to share that I was clinging onto her every word until we had to unfortunately part ways to board the plane. But it definitely was a pleasure to meet her.

So as we are in the air I see the beautiful horizon. It was so pretty I had to take a picture. Here you go :)

The flight was not bad. We flew with New Zealand Air and got a nice breakfast (quiche and fruit yum!) I even got to see Rio 2 and an episode of The Big Bang Theory (which only reminded me that I'm seeing Britt in less than 2 months!!!!!)

Ok moving on...

So we land to Sydney!!! Wohoooooo

To be honest I have never been crazy or visa versa about Australia. It's just never caught my attention. But my friend Joseph is in LOVE with Australia so I know if he is reading this post he is just wicked jealous! Hahaha

After a shuttle ride we arrived at our hostel: Alfred Park Accommodations. The place is alright but it's way way sketch at night. We actually saw his man through our window hiding in the alley. Who knows what he was doing. I'm honestly glad we are only here for another night cause then we are moving to some housing by the temple (I believe).

After settling (sort off) we all went our different ways to explore Sydnee for our free day.

Jess, Mallory and I first grabbed something to eat. I got Thai food this time.

                                                                        Pad Thai

Jess got some stir fry and Mallory got some lamb and something else sandwich.

Then we headed to the bank because Mallory and Jess needed to change their money but after Mallory informed us of the $8 fee, Jess decided to pass.

Then we shopped for about 6 hours! We were so tired that we literally had no energy to walk home. But we had to because in just two hours we all had to meet at the Sydnee Opera place.

So 6 o'clock rolls around and we hop on the train to meet our crew. I'm loving the transportation system out here!

The city was really pretty...

and the Sydnee Opera place was nice but I bet I would have enjoyed it more had it not been soo cold.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of communication not every one met and we were almost left behind. I bet had we not seen a few girls from our group we would have stayed in the cold waiting for like an extra 30 mins. Tender mercy for sure!

After a quick tour and some pics Jess Mallory and I were ready to head home.

I forgot to mentioned that we are staying at a place that is directly across this park.
Here is a pic I took of a bird I found at the park. It was sooooo huge!

                                                                       Woodstork

And this is one Greg saw at the fish market on the same day...

I am really tired today but I'm glad I got sometime to explore the city. Sydnee is alright but I don't think its not my cup of tea. Sorry Australia.

Now 2 things I've learned...

1) I AM smart! Seriously. And I'm not saying it to sound cocky or anything but I was really proud of myself. It was my first day here and I was directing us from place to place. Like the girls were so impressed. Even in the dark. Of course I didn't do it all alone but I was impressed at my self for being brave enough to ask when I was lost and brave enough to just go with the punches. I really felt accomplished today :)

2) In life we learn through trial and error. There has been times in my life where I have wanted to do something for someone. Wether it was so that they didn't have to, or because I knew how to, or because I was worried that if they did do whatever "it" was they would get hurt. Today as I traveled in a foreign city I felt confident. I knew the language. I had the confidence to speak up and ask when I was lost all because I have lived on my own which has allowed me to grow up and become an independent woman. I know if I didn't have the time to live alone and had time to learn to trial and error I wouldnt be on this trip because I would be too scared. Honestly if we don't fail then we surely won't succeed.

Well that is all for me tonight.

Cheers Mate!
