Day #8

So we woke up pretty early today since we were heading to Christchurch a city 6 hours away (give or take).

The view to Christchurch was so beautiful. There were sheep, cows and deers everywhere!

After several hours, we stopped by this small town so that a few of the people in our group could go bungee jumping. But the wait was so long that we decided to catch some food and buy some souvenirs and head out instead.

In case you didn't know, meat pies are HUGE here so I had to try one before I left.

Here is a pic...

It was a Lamb Rosemary Meat Pie.

I was not crazy about it but I'm glad I tried it.

So after we were done our teacher took us out to see these mountains...

OMG!!!!!!! That was the scariest scariest SCARIEST thing I have ever done. There was no railing or fence that separated the road from the edge of the mountain.

It looked something like this...

The street that we were driving on was a bit narrow and there was even some snow. Seriously I was so scared.

Honestly, the picture I attached doesn't really show how STEEP it was but I'm glad we made it out alive!!!!

There was a point where we stopped and the Professor suggested to go up further and I just prayed. I mean seriously if ANYTHING happened we would fall to our death and I'm not exaggerating. As we were returning all of a sudden a fog clouded all of the mountains and it looked something like this...

I'm just glad Greg was a careful driver.

The trip after that was fine and after a few more hours we made it to Christchurch.

We stopped for some dinner and this time I had Indian. It was pretty good.

Seriously I'm gaining so much weight it's not even funny.

We finally make it to our destination and well it looks a bit sketch but luckily we are only here for one night. Can't believe we are leaving to Australia tomorrow ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

So two things I learned today...

1) Sometimes in life we will have to learn to accommodate. Tonight when we made it to our hostel so many girls complained about the sleeping arrangements. I mean the place was not bad! I have seen worst. Long story short I'm glad and thankful that my mom raised me the way she did because I have learned to be humble, thankful and very accommodating. Those are all things I hope to teach my kids as well.

2) If you look well you will find what your looking for. Today I got to really know Jess (the girl from New York). She is so cool and we have clicked so well. For a while I felt alone because I couldn't connect with any clicks in my study abroad, but after I took the time to talk to Jess I realized I was not alone. She also felt the same way! It's really refreshing to have someone from the east coast. I just feel like east coast people think differently and act differently. Either way I found a good friend because I took the time to go out of my way and search which I'm glad I did :)

Well that is my dear friends!

Tomorrow is going to be awesome. Can't believe in less than 24 hours I will be in Australia :) I seriously can't wait.

See ya soon,

Your Traveling Soul
