Day #30

Today was a day full of adventures!

First, we left our place at 7:30 am and headed towards

Since it was too early for my taste I decided to spread out in the back seat and the a little siesta! It was great.

After a long drive we stopped and I woke up thinking we had arrived which was actually not true. We still needed to take a ferry (not as big as the one in NZ) which would take us across to the

The drive to this place was long! Like I thought we would never get there but after what seemed like eternity we made it!

Our first stop...

The beach...

We walked around for a bit and found this pretty cool holes and balls on the sand.

Can you tell what this is?! If you guess the lead from the Canada flag you are indeed correct!! Apparently crabs to this little holes and the sand the dig out turns into this tiny balls.

The beach was pretty cool but I was ready to see more!

Also on my way to the bathroom I caught a super cool bug! I had to kill him though because he is part of a homework assingment :(

After the beach we went to

Here I found...

If you can't tell it's an eel!

And...

Cool huh?

I even found this cool looking tree

Odd no?!

Then we went for a walk to...

I'm glad these walks were easy because I think I would have been dying by now.

There were some really cool butterflies everywhere. I actually found this one upside down on a lead.

This walk had some really interesting trees such as this one...

Ok so in case you didn't know Australia is known for having the top most venomous animals in the whole world. So as Stacey and I are walking, Cory, Jess and Shawn tell us that they have found a snake. I was not very excited to hear the news but I went to see anyways. Unfortunately, it was slithered away quicker than we could get there.

So Jess decided to go back to the place were the other people had seen the snake to see if she could see it for herself. I decided to join her but after a few fail attempts I decide to go back.

Since we weren't moving I decided to go back to where Jess and some of the people were to see if I could find te snake. As I'm walking by I immediately notice this...

With excitement I screamed "guys look!"

They were quite surprised by my ability to see it and after a while Cory informed us that this snake known as the Taipan is considered the second most venomous snake in Australia. Yikes!

After that we decide to end our day by visiting Mossman  Gorge which was a 2.5 km hike through the rainforest. I was a bit nervous at first because we only had 45 minutes to do it and I had not gone on a long hike since Ayers Rock. But I went hoping for the Best.

This was the entrance to the hike...

But it did not look like that once you got deeper into the forest. I really couldn't stop and see and take pics because we were rushing through it but it can tell you that it was beautiful. There is something special about rainforest. The colors and the birds are so different in comparison to anything I have ever seen before.

After making the hike I had to take this picture...

I was so proud because 1) I made it 2) I didn't use my brace and 3) I managed to stay with the group. Can you see in my face how proud I felt. In my mind that was the best way to say goodbye to Australia :)

After all of that walking and nasty BO from everyone we decided to go home and shower and eat cake for Angie's birthday. Oh yeah her birthday was today!

Happy Birthday Angie!

Luckily, I managed to do some laundry and get my stuff ready for tomorrow because guess what?! Were going to Giji baby!!!!!! I'm stocked!

So two things I learned today...

1) I can do anything just as long as I believe in myself. Today as I went through the last hike and encountered the insects and venomous snake all I kept thinking was "I can do this" and you know what I did! Often I am my own barrier. I create all this fears and doubt within myself that limits my self growth. But I'm slowly learning that as long as I have faith my myself and my Heavenly Father I can do anything.

2) If you want to succeed you need to be persistent! We went back almost three times to search for that snake. Was it worth it?! yes! If we hadn't gone back to search for the snake we would not have seen it and we would not hae been able to add it to our reptile list for our assingment and we would not have been able to say "we saw the second most venomous snake in Australia". So in other words if you don't succeed once keep trying!

Well peeps I love you all and I really miss everyone. I can't believe I'm coming home next week. I'm actually really excited to see all of you again. Be safe.

Xoxo
